Don:I came across your blog while reading about Major Olmstead.I write to you as a complete stranger, but please accept my heartfelt sympathy. This cannot be an easy time for you, your family, or your friends. I grew up in your area and know that the Army Family is very tightly knit. I hope that fact is a comfort in some way.Weird segue– I’m very happy to have come across your site because I’m a Civil War buff (four or five steps down from your self-description of “amateur historian”). I’ve left these posts up for so long because Andy’s last post on his personal blog before he left was a plug for my at the time brand new blog. As a result, my 30 visit a day site has been receiving hundreds of visits a day looking for information about him. It seems only fair to post what I know, and writing the tribute really helped a great deal in accepting his loss. Fortunately, my regular readers are a pretty understanding bunch.
